From Detroit to Dagbon

A Royal Wedding at the Crossroads of Diaspora and Homeland

On 14 November 2026, in Tamale, Northern Ghana, Prince Poku-Ansah, a Ghanaian technology entrepreneur of Ashanti heritage, will marry Queen Zosimli Naa Kennedy S. Johnson, a Black American traditional leader born and raised in Detroit. The couple met in November 2024, on the very day Johnson became a Ghanaian citizen, at a ceremony for members of the African Diaspora.

Rather than a single ceremony, the couple has built Reign Week: a nine-day experience across Ghana, from 7–15 November 2026, taking guests — many of them Diaspora travelers visiting the African continent for the first time — through Accra, Cape Coast, the Volta Region, and finally Tamale, where the Traditional Ceremony and Royal Wedding culminate the journey.
